Mowi-backed salmon farmer Nova Sea has announced a deal with seafood industry software provider Maritech.

Nova Sea has chosen to implement Maritech’s cloud-based solution, Maritech Purchase & Sales, a cloud-based application that streamlines seafood procurement, the companies announced in a press release on Tuesday.

“The new cloud software will enhance efficiency across various departments within our company, from coordination to sales, invoicing, and accounting. This will provide us with better control and also create synergies beyond the functions directly involved in the project,” said Nova Sea Head of IT, Geir Johan Birkeland.

Based in Lovund, Nova Sea is one of the largest producers of farmed salmon in Northern Norway, with 33 fully owned and 4 jointly owned salmon licences.

Maritech is owned by Broodstock Capital and has 125 employees in Iceland, North America, and Norway.

In September, Nova Sea’s board approved the resumption on construction of a state-of-the-art facility in Lovund, Norway with groundbreaking set for April 2024.

The processing facility, estimated to cost in the region of NOK 2 billion. ($200 million), is the largest single investment ever made in the history of the municipality.

The company plans to more than double its processing capacity from 50,000 metric tons to as much as 125,000 tons with the new facility.
