Death comes weeks after $700 million sale to Mowi.
Håkon Vigner Lindal Olaisen, co-owner of Norwegian salmon farming company Nova Sea, has died following a traffic accident in Poland on Thursday, 1 May.
The news was confirmed by Daniel Bjarmann Simonsen, Director of Communications and Public Affairs at Nova Sea, who said in a statement to NRK: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nova Sea co-owner Håkon Vigner Lindal Olaisen, who died in a car accident in Poland this morning. Many in the company knew Håkon. Our thoughts are with his family.”
Olaisen was born in 1982 and was the youngest child of Steinar Olaisen and Mona Lindal. He was the brother of Aino and Maria Olaisen, with whom he shared ownership of Nova Sea AS.
The family company was recently sold to Mowi ASA for NOK 7.4 billion ($710 million/€629 million).
In Kapital’s ranking of the 400 wealthiest people in Norway, published in September 2024, Håkon, Aino and Maria Olaisen were jointly listed in 305th place, each with an estimated fortune of NOK 1.5 billion ($144 million/€127 million), according to Rana Blad, which first reported the death.
