Kristine Hartmann, who has served as Director of Development at SalMar Aker Ocean since January 2022, has been appointed head of the Salmon Living Lab, an innovative R&D initiative launched by SalMar in collaboration with Cargill.
In her new role, Hartmann will spearhead the development of the Salmon Living Lab, which aims to explore and develop sustainable solutions for salmon farming, the company announced in its Q2 results this week.

Hartmann brings a wealth of experience to the role, having held various leadership positions across the seafood and marine industries. Prior to her current position, she was Chair of the Board at MS Donna AS from June 2021 to January 2024 and a Board Member at Sjømat Norge, where she served from February 2017 to March 2023. Her extensive experience also includes her tenure as Chief Operating Officer at HUB Ocean (formerly C4IR Ocean) and nearly nine years with Aker BioMarine, where she held roles including EVP Transformation and VP Business Process Improvement.
Her appointment to lead the Salmon Living Lab underscores SalMar’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in aquaculture. The initiative, which has garnered significant interest from various stakeholders, aims to drive forward more sustainable practices in the industry.
