A group of Norwegian salmon processing plants and equipment suppliers has applied to join the NIC Connect programme, a step towards establishing a national industry cluster.

The Slakterinettverket brings together processors including Astafjord Slakteri, Slakteriet, Cermaq Alta and Sinkaberg NT145, along with suppliers and research institutions.

The group said a formal cluster would help companies collaborate on common challenges including food safety, product quality, resource utilisation and automation.

NIC Connect is operated by Innovation Norway, Siva and the Research Council of Norway, according to a press release from NCE Aquatech Cluster.
