Bård Sekkingstad will return as CEO of Sekkingstad, replacing Andreas Mikalsen in a leadership change tied to a cost-reduction drive at the Norwegian seafood exporter.

Sekkingstad announced the change in a press release Friday. The company cited efforts to strengthen competitiveness, simplify its organisation, and cut operating costs.

“After 2.5 exciting years at Sekkingstad, amid significantly increased competition and costs in the industry, I believe the organisational steps now being taken are the right ones to strengthen Sekkingstad,” Mikalsen said.

Bård Sekkingstad owns 100 percent of Sekkingstad through his holding company Trient. Chairman Frode Blakstad said the move was the right call.

“Bård Sekkingstad is Sekkingstad AS, and we believe it is right that he once again takes over as managing director,” Blakstad said.

The company posted revenue of NOK 4.7 billion (approximately USD 440 million) in its most recent financial year, 2024. Sekkingstad is based at Skaganeset on the west coast of Norway and is one of the country’s larger seafood exporters.
