Prices soften after Easter.

The spot price for the current week is estimated at around EUR 7.25 (USD 8.46) per kilo for superior 3–6 kg fish, down from the stronger levels recorded in the weeks leading up to Easter, according to seafood industry analysts.

It remains uncertain whether the decline will be temporary or persist into the second quarter. One analyst source forecasts a Q2 average price of around EUR 7.58 (USD 8.85) per kilo.

Weekly Norwegian export statistics were not published on schedule, likely due to the Easter holiday. However, monthly data for March has been released.

Norwegian salmon exports increased 11% year on year in March. This follows demand growth of 8% in February and a 4% year-on-year decline in January.

Year-to-date exports to China increased 87%, while exports to the United States declined 28%. Overall supply growth in March was reported at 5.4%.

Higher harvest volumes have been reported following a week of limited activity during Easter, according to seafood industry analysts.
