ASC label enters U.S. pet supplement market.

Pet supplement brand Vital Pet Life has launched an Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC)-labeled salmon oil supplement for dogs and cats in the United States.

The product, Only Salmon Oil for Dogs & Cats, debuted in March and is now stocked in more than 1,600 stores operated by Walmart, according to the company.

The launch marks the first pet supplement oil in the U.S. market to carry the label of the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), which certifies seafood produced under environmental and social standards for responsible aquaculture.

Only Salmon Oil contains a single seafood ingredient, farmed salmon oil sourced from ASC-certified supply chains. The product is also verified by ORIVO, according to the companies.

ASC said the launch reflects growing interest in certified seafood ingredients in the pet food and supplement sector.

Sales of salmon as an ingredient in dog food and treats increased by more than 2.1 million units year on year, according to 2025 data from Nielsen.

Vital Pet Life, founded in 2017, produces omega fatty acid and glucosamine-based supplements for pets. The company said the ASC-labeled product is available in select Walmart stores nationwide and online.

The Aquaculture Stewardship Council, a nonprofit organization that sets standards for responsible farmed seafood, said it has increased engagement with pet food manufacturers and retailers in North America as part of efforts to expand certified seafood use beyond human consumption.
