Canadian aquaculture technology supplier Poseidon Ocean Systems has appointed Chris Beattie as Commercial Director.
Beattie joins the company with more than 25 years of experience across the aquaculture, biotechnology and marine technology sectors, according to a company statement published on LinkedIn.
His previous roles include positions at aquaculture supplier AKVA Group, feed producer Skretting and Merck Animal Health.
Poseidon said Beattie will lead the company’s global commercial strategy, including customer partnerships, sales, marketing and customer success functions.
The company added that the appointment comes as it continues to expand internationally.
Poseidon Ocean Systems develops equipment and technology for the aquaculture sector, including closed containment and offshore farming systems, fish handling technology and environmental monitoring solutions. The company has been involved in projects targeting both conventional salmon farming and emerging offshore aquaculture developments.
The appointment follows continued investment across the aquaculture supply industry in technologies aimed at improving fish welfare, operational efficiency and environmental performance as salmon producers face increasing biological and regulatory pressures in key farming regions including Norway, Scotland and Canada.
