Bakkafrost increase 2019 harvest expectations

Salmon harvested that day in the company’s farms in the Faroe Islands will reach a New Jersey airport in time to reach US wholesalers and restaurants early the next morning

According to a trading statement posted this morning, the Faroese salmon farmer Bakkafrost said that it expected to harvest more fish this year.

It expects to harvest 54.5 thousand tonnes which was slightly up from its previous estimate of 53 thousand tonnes.

Bakkafrost also stated that it had harvested a total of 12.3 thousand tonnes of salmon in the fourth quarter of 2018, divided into 4 thousand tonnes in the northern region and 8.3 thousand tonnes in Region West (of the Faroes).

Subsidary Havsbrún sold 24.7 thousand tonnes of feed during Q4 2018. The fish feed producer purchased 46.5 thousand tonnes of raw material feed during the same period.
