A salmon farming site operated by Cermaq in northern Norway has been placed under restrictions following suspicion of infectious salmon anaemia (ISA).

The suspicion relates to the Vannfjorden site in Nordkapp municipality, Finnmark, after positive PCR test results were obtained from samples collected at the farm.

Cermaq notified the Norwegian Food Safety Authority on 29 May.

The authority said samples will be sent to the Norwegian Veterinary Institute to determine whether ISA is present.

Restrictions have been imposed on the site pending the outcome of the investigation, including controls on the movement of fish.

If ISA is confirmed, the authorities may order the site, or parts of it, to be emptied.
