Innovex, a Chilean supplier of environmental monitoring and oceanographic technology to the aquaculture industry, will host a seminar in Puerto Montt on 2 July examining the potential impacts of the El Niño climate phenomenon on Chile’s salmon farming industry.

The event, titled Are We Prepared to Face El Niño?, will take place at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel and bring together specialists to discuss environmental conditions that could affect aquaculture operations in southern Chile.

Topics will include potential changes in rainfall patterns, water column mixing, dissolved oxygen levels, algal blooms and other oceanographic variables associated with El Niño.

Innovex said the seminar is intended to provide technical and scientific information to support planning and decision-making by companies operating in the aquaculture sector.

Attendance is limited and the event is aimed at industry professionals, technicians and company representatives.
