Chilean salmon farmer Productos del Mar Ventisqueros has joined Consejo del Salmón, an industry association representing major salmon producers in the country.
The group represents companies responsible for roughly 60 percent of Chile’s salmon production. Ventisqueros said its membership aims to support collaboration across the sector and contribute to long-term development of the country’s aquaculture industry.
Ventisqueros is one of Chile’s larger salmon producers and forms part of the German investment group Schörghuber Gruppe.
José Luis Vial, general manager of Ventisqueros, said the company views participation in the association as an opportunity to contribute to a more competitive and sustainable salmon sector.
The Consejo del Salmón said the addition of Ventisqueros strengthens the organisation’s representativeness within Chile’s salmon farming industry.
