Walrus interrupts ROV test at aquaculture service company.

Employees at aquaculture service firm Nærøysund Aquaservice received an unexpected visitor while testing a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) last week, according to a Facebook post from the company.

Staff briefly raised the vehicle but lowered it again after concerns the animal could damage the ROV’s cable. The walrus then swam away and later settled on one of the company’s floating docks.

Nærøysund Aquaservice, based in Nærøysund municipality in Trøndelag, provides service vessels and technical support to the aquaculture industry. The walrus was also later spotted near the pier at Rørvik.
