Scottish aquaculture technology company WellFish Tech has appointed Erik Tveteraas as group finance director as it seeks to support international growth and strengthen its commercial operations.
Tveteraas joins the fish health and analytics company from Norwegian Mycelium (NoMy), where he served as chief financial officer.
He previously spent five years at NuFrontiers, the corporate venture capital arm of Nutreco, where he worked on investments across aquaculture technology, fish health, precision farming and alternative proteins. Nutreco is the parent company of aquafeed producer Skretting.
Based in Paisley, Scotland, WellFish Tech develops fish health monitoring and predictive modelling tools using biochemical data collected directly from fish. The company operates in the UK and Ireland, Norway and Canada, and employs 26 people.
Chief executive Charlie Granfelt said Tveteraas brings experience from both investment and operating roles within the aquaculture technology sector.
“Erik has seen the aquaculture technology space from the inside, as an investor and as an operator,” said Granfelt.
“He has seen what separates companies that scale successfully from those that do not. That perspective is exactly what we need at this stage of WellFish Tech’s development.”
