Norway's Food Safety Authority has reported a suspected outbreak of infectious salmon anaemia (ISA) at Mowi's Bjørgan farming site in Flatanger municipality, Trøndelag.

The suspicion follows sampling carried out at the site, with Mowi notifying the regulator on 6 July.

The authority has imposed movement restrictions on the site, including a ban on moving fish without special permission, to reduce the risk of disease spread.

It also urged companies operating in the surrounding area to take precautions to prevent any potential transmission.

If the presence of ISA is confirmed, the Food Safety Authority said it will order the site, or parts of it, to be emptied.

ISA is a viral disease affecting Atlantic salmon and is subject to mandatory reporting and control measures in Norway.

The Food Safety Authority announced the suspected case in a statement on Thursday.
