Sølvtrans: expands fleet with Ronja Viking delivery
Norwegian shipbuilder Aas Mek. Verksted has delivered the live fish carrier Ronja Viking to Sølvtrans, the eighth of nine sister vessels ordered by the wellboat operator since 2022.
The vessel, handed over on 1 July, is 76.9 metres long with a 3,000-cubic-metre well volume and capacity to transport 400-450 tonnes of live fish in two wells.
Compared with the previous seven vessels in the series, Ronja Viking is equipped with a battery package to improve operational resilience, an optimised engine configuration and a heat recovery system.
Designed for both open and closed transport, the vessel features RSW cooling, freshwater treatment capability, UV water treatment and water monitoring systems. It is also configured for pressure unloading to land-based facilities without the use of vacuum pumps, reducing fish handling during transfer.
Aas Mek. Verksted said the vessel was christened on 27 June before being delivered to Sølvtrans four days later.
