Arctic Seafood Group: Three Norwegian fish farmers join forces in takeover
Three locally owned Norwegian fish farmers have agreed to acquire Arctic Seafood Group, giving them control of salmon producer Organic Seafarm.
Sjybol, which owns Lovundlaks, will take a 49 percent stake, while Kobbvåglaks and Selsøyvik Havbruk will each own 25.5 percent.
Organic Seafarm holds 1,856 tonnes of commercial maximum allowable biomass across three salmon-farming sites in Nordfjorden, Gildeskål. It also has its own operating organisation, shore base and operations centre at Nygårdsjøen.
The sellers are Friendmail, Hawk Seafood and Arctic Seafood Group employees.
Sjybol managing director Jørgen Aakre said the deal would strengthen local ownership at a time when consolidation was the industry norm. Arctic Seafood Group CEO Nicolaj Weiergang said it would help retain employment, expertise and value creation along the Norwegian coast.
