Chile: salmon export volume up 15.5% in first half of 2026
Chile exported 441,000 tonnes of salmon in the first half of 2026, up 15.5% from 382,000 tonnes in H1 2025, according to state Customs figures.
Export value reached $3.506 billion, a 7.3% increase from $3.266bn a year earlier. The gap between volume and value growth indicates producers received a lower price per kilo.
The United States, Chile's largest customer, took 133,600 tonnes worth $1.356bn, up from 118,800 tonnes worth $1.326bn in H1 2025.
Brazil held second place with 85,945 tonnes worth $519m, compared to 74,910 tonnes worth $473m a year earlier. Japan ranked third, buying 72,612 tonnes worth $558m, up from 68,000 tonnes worth $473m.
Chilean exports to China more than doubled, reaching 26,355 tonnes worth $157m in H1 2026, against 11,770 tonnes worth $78m in the same period last year.
Russia moved in the opposite direction, falling from 22,700 tonnes worth $169m to 14,400 tonnes worth $94m. Mexico rose modestly to 11,500 tonnes worth $113m, from 9,309 tonnes worth $98m.
